BMW recently announced that in 2014 the all-new BMW M4 will enter the DTM championship.
“We are all really looking forward to the new BMW M4 DTM,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. “The BMW Concept M4 Coupé certainly looks fantastic. So will our DTM car for next season – I can already promise all the fans that much. The BMW M3 DTM won the title at the first attempt in 2012. We obviously want to follow on from this success with its successor. However, it will still be quite a while until we get to see our new DTM racing car for the first time.”

But latest rumors say that another BMW M4 Race Car might be in works. For WorldCarFans, a source says the tentatively branded “M4 Race Car” is rumored to debut in late December and be homologated to compete in the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship as well as European FIA events.
The engine is said to be an upgraded version of the new M3/M4 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine so we expect more than 430 hp and 369 lb-ft torque. It will reportedly have a standalone engine management system (EMS).
The same source says the M4 Race car will be a “cost effective race car” that will appeal to customer racing teams. The price? A rumored 65,000 euros ($88,290).
